Chris Thomsen

Forty plus years in escalator and elevator installation repair and maintenance. Chris knows travelers can be clean, safe, and healthy - The Thomsen Way!

Chris is the Co-founder, CTO, inventor and the heart and soul of Thomsen’s Inc. Chris grew up in Seattle and is a 40+ year veteran of the elevator and escalator industry working with Westinghouse, Otis, Schindler, Montgomery, Kone elevator and escalator manufacturers, specializing in escalator and elevator repair. He developed the current step chain oiling system eliminating years of unnecessary step chain replacements. He developed the current industry standard LED Demarcation lights for escalators, eliminating endless fines for fluorescent tube failures and out-of-order demarcation lights. Proved the failure of one manufacturer’s existing elevator emergency-earthquake-shutdown protection and helped eliminate huge safety and liability concerns with a retrofit to the existing system.

Since his retirement in 2012, Chris has used his significant experience and unique problem-solving abilities to develop and patent major escalator and elevator safety improvements. The patented Thomsen’s Escalator Handrail Cleaning System is one of those improvements – eliminating the need to shut down the system to clean, disinfect, and polish escalator handrails. Other patented inventions are waiting in the wings.
